GEORGE HERRON DIES FOLLOWING LONG ILLNESS

 

George Herron, aged 65, prominent farmer of Spratt for the past 40 years, died early this morning at his farm home after an extended illness of Bright’s disease terminating in heart trouble.

He was born in Canada, near Buffalo, came to Alpena when a small boy and has resided in this county continuously since then, with the exception of a brief residence in Sanilac county. His father was the late George C. Herron, Sr., well known carpenter of that time.

The widow and five children survive, Frank of Spruce, Mrs. Harry McLeod of Flint, Alger Herron of Detroit, and Arnold and Mary Herron of Spratt. Three sisters, Mrs. James Willett of Flint, Mrs. Henry Cochran and Mrs. George Shanks of Wilson, tow brothers Charles and Fred of Wilson and 12 grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Frank Petherick of this city is a niece.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, but it is expected the funeral will take place Sunday afternoon from the home in Spratt.

Herron Funeral

 

The funeral of George S. Herron, Spratt farmer, whose death occurred at 2:30 o’clock, Friday morning at his home will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, from the home and at 2:30 o’clock from the Spratt M.E. church. Rev. Devison officiating, assisted by Rev. J.W. Dingle. Burial will be in the Spratt cemetery.

Gerorge S. Herron was born August 25, 1862 in Port Huron, MI, and died February 24, 1928 in Green-twp, Alpena-co MI. He married Barbara Stambaugh 1886, daughter of Samuel Stambaugh and Barbara Hauser.
