Orville
Herron, 62, of 6991 M-65-S, died Tuesday evening (Aug. 21) at Alpena
Hospital. Mr. Herron was born June 26,
1917 in Spratt and was a life-long resident of the area. He married the former Ardellia Manning Aug.
22, 1942.
Mr.
Herron was well-known throughout Northeast Michigan for his asparagus farm,
which he pioneered in 1965. He was also
known for his Alpena strawberries and beans.
Surviving
in addition to his wife are three daughters, Margie of Detroit, Gayle (Mrs.
Robert) Schultz and Doris of Alpena; two sons, Nason of Allendale and Franklin,
a student at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo; two granddaughters;
three brothers, Elden, Dale, and Glen
of Spratt; and three sisters, Elva (Mrs. John) Alexander and Kay (Mrs. Jerry)
LaComb of Spratt and Doris Haenlein of Saginaw. A daughter preceded him in death in 1967.
Mr.
Herron’s body is at Bannan Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 p.m.
today. Funeral is Friday at 2 p.m. at
the funeral home, the Rev. David Nickel officiating. Interment: Evergreen Cemetery.
