George A. Shenk

 

The death of George A. Shenk, 74,310 W. Baldwin, occurred Tuesday evening [Jan. 15] at Alpena hospital. He had been in failing health the past three months.

 

Born Feb. 2, 1882 in Wilson-twp, he had been a resident of the county his entire life and had resided in the city of Alpena the past 15 years. While in Wilson he operated a farm and a small grocery store. Since moving to Alpena, he had engaged in the insurance business. He was a member of the First Methodist church.

 

His marriage to the former Ida Herron took place Nov. 16, 1904 in Wilson. She survives, as do five sons, Elmer of Wilson, Eldon of Ossineke, Adrian of Bradenton, Fla., Ferris of Long Beach, Cal. and Robert of Centerline; one daughter, Mrs. Nellie Clem, at home; one brother, Walter, of Hazel Park; and six grandchildren.

 

The body is at Wacterhauser funeral home. Saturday at noon it will be taken to the first Methodist church to lie in state until the time of service at 2, the Rev. William C. Lovejoy officiating, with burial in Evergreen cemetery.
