Alger S. Herron

 

Alger S. Herron, 91, of 7880 Elevere, died Monday (Dec. 23) at Alpena General Hospital. He was born Dec. 10, 1900, in Sandusky, Mich. On Nov. 7, 1936, he married Viola Beatty in Flint. She preceded him in death on July 23, 1980.

 

Mr. Herron was engaged in berry farming for 27 years, retiring in 1965. He was a member of the Spratt United Methodist Church, the Spratt Farm Bureau and was a past township board member.

 

Surviving are a son, Robert of Lachine; a stepson, Gerald Beatty of Saginaw; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Arnold of Flint. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Bannan Funeral Home, where a 2 p.m. Friday funeral will be conducted by Rev. Paula Timm.

 

Burial: Spratt Cemetery.

 

Buried: December 1991, Spratt Cemetery, Green Township, Alpena County, MI.
