Beulah Herron
Beulah Herron, 83, of M-65, Spratt, died Monday (May21). The former Beulah Black was born May 4, 1896 in Alpena and was a lifelong resident of the area.
Mrs. Herron and her husband engaged in farming and were the pioneer strawberry growers in the Spratt area. She was a member of the Spratt United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Alpena county Farm Bureau.
Surviving are three daughters, Elva (Mrs. John) Alexander, Kay (Mrs. Jerry) Lacombe of Spratt and Doris Haenlein of Saginaw; four sons, Orville, Elden, Dale, and Glen of Spratt; 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Alice Duncan of Alpena, Winefred Pomfrey of Sault Ste. Marie, Ethel Dant and Alma Spragg of Spratt, and Thelma Baker of Ossineke; four brothers, Cecil, Victor, Sebert, and Leonard Black, all of Spratt. Her husband, Frank, preceded her in death in 1969, as did a son, Nelson, in 1932 and a daughter, Florence Oullette, in 1961.
Mrs. Herron’s body is at the Bannan Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 p.m. today. At noon her body will be taken to the Spratt United Methodist Church until the funeral at 2 p.m., the Rev. Harold Blakely officiating. Pallbearers are Nason, James, Nelson, and Dean Herron, Jeff Haenlein, Dennis VanSipe, Greg Oullette and Craig LaCombe. Interment: Spratt Cemetery. Memorials: Spratt United Methodist Church.
